Reliable foam for the “electrifying” trends
Reliable foam for the “electrifying” trends
Changes in the drive concept of future vehicles are creating entirely new product areas.
Batteries are the key technology for the electromobility of the future. Suppliers worldwide are facing the challenge of keeping up in the race for new solution concepts, production advances as well as higher material efficiency.
ODENWALD’s broad portfolio includes open-cell, closed-cell and impregnated foam systems with diverse applications throughout the vehicle. Certain material ranges are particularly suitable for applications in electric cars due to their special properties, such as the O.C.-ZELL PUR polyurethane range.
The high-performance material O.C.-ZELL PUR has several advantages over EPDM and similar raw materials. For example, it has a very broad temperature spectrum, very good damping properties and extremely low compression set.
In application, the material is used in the battery – between the housing base and battery cells.
The O.C.-ZELL SSW PUR RG190 Shockseal material is already installed in two current vehicle series at an OEM in the area of the high-voltage storage system.
In the vehicle, the material is located on the lower battery cover between the battery and the vehicle underbody.
The foams have been tested and meet the fire protection standards according to UL94 HB, UL50E/UL508 and FMVSS 302.
